With one billion active monthly users, TikTok is a wildly popular app that brands are starting to take advantage of for Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha advertising. Users spend an average of 52 minutes a day on the app, and 90% of users check the app multiple times in a day. So how can you use that to your advantage and maximize your viewership on TikTok? The For You page is the first thing that greets the user when opening the app, and it's a feed that recommends videos based on previously watched or liked content. The general understanding of how the TikTok algorithm decides what content goes viral starts with the For You page. Every video posted shows up on at least a few For You Pages. Users usually decide if a video is worth watching within a few seconds, so it’s important to stay trendy and up to date.
Next, it’s important to maximize the amount of hashtags. Usually the best choices are the suggested ones, as those are the hottest hashtags that users are interacting with at the moment. If you do this while posting regularly, you can eventually build a following. It’s imperative to post regularly because even if you post one great video, it can easily slip through the cracks on the algorithm and get few views. The best way to ensure you maximize your chances of making it on the For You page is to post a lot and post regularly.
Once you gain a large following, your videos will be guaranteed to show up on a larger number of For You pages and in turn, show up on even more For You pages!
